Dear Forkers
Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough support for our trip to RHS Wisley on 7th April, so I had to cancel that day out.
The Ramsbury Horticultural Society have also cancelled their two trips out, which were to be operated by Barnes coaches. However, these trips are still operating, but not with a Ramsbury pickup. Book directly through the Barnes website:
Malvern Show – 11th May, £56, pickup in Swindon
Kew Gardens – 29th May, £49, pickup from the Bear Hotel in Hungerford at 0955
BBC Gardeners World, NEC – 15th June, £55, pick up in Swindon
Hampton Court Palace Show – 3rd, 4th & 5th July, £69, pickup at Chieveley at 0830
The Village Hall book swap is well underway, and I hope that between us we can fill a ‘dedicated’ gardening shelf. This is an opportunity to bring in (donate) your gardening books, and then swap out someone else’s that they have finished with. Our next meet up is Saturday 15th March at the coffee and cake morning where we can hopefully launch the book swap – I will be there from 10 until 11. If you can’t attend, and have books you’d like to donate, you can drop them off with me at no. 71 (opposite the VH).
Note new date! If anyone has been to Penwood Nurseries, near Highclere Castle, you’ll know that they have some really good plants, shrubs and trees at great prices. The young staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable. If members are interested, we could meet at Dobbies for a coffee at 1000 on Wed 19th March, then car share to the nursery (20 minutes drive) for about an hour or so. Please let me know if you are interested.
Finally, the Village website have kindly added a page for us (1_Facilities_TheFoliatForkers – Chilton Foliat Village ); we’re under ‘Facilities’! The most up-to-date version of our ‘diary’ will be hosted there. The information board at the Plane tree will also have a QR code for us, that can be scanned and will lead to the web page – what will they think of next?
